PARTNERSHIP WITH EDOVO FOUNDATION
Bridgeworks Oregon has designed writing modules that are available for free use on prison tablets across the US through the educational platform Edovo. The courses focus on writing prompts and encourages a journal writing practice. Written poetry, memoir, and essays from currently and formerly incarcerated writers provide textual prompts. Enrolled adults in custody work in their personal journals. From introspective writing, they distill their ideas into short responses recorded on the tablet to earn credits. Certificates of completion demonstrate evidence of a person’s effort to engage in educational experiences, which is included in their files when they appear before a parole board. Since the launch in March 2024, Bridgeworks has reached over 80K+ individuals and seen an average 87% completion rate for individual lessons. The courses are available on the PonyXpress online journal so that family members can download them and write alongside their love one who is incarcerated.
